Getting your vehicle “stolen” and/or mistreated is inevitable when it comes to third-party rentals. Some guests may not return your vehicle on time; others will push your muscle car far beyond the legal limits.

To ease your concerns, Turo has allowed use of tracking technology. Unfortunately, these device will have to be paid out of your own pocket. Some newer vehicles have tracking and/or ignition disabling technology built-in. If your car does not, third-party products exist to reduce your risk of theft and vehicle misuse.

Note: All recommendations & advice provided should not be taken for gospel. Turo T&S change continuously; due diligence is required for proper GPS monitoring.

GPS Tracking Process:

  1. Review Turo’s official guide.

  2. Purchase a GPS tracking device. My recommendation. Place the device discreetly in your vehicle.

  3. Pay for the subscription service to access the Optimus Tracker servers.

  4. Track your vehicle within the Google Map interface.
