The importance of maintaining proper tread life on your tires for Turo cannot be understated. Tires are an important and critical feature of any car, regardless of whether they exist on the Turo marketplace. The goal of any Turo host should be to reduce liabilities as much as possible. Do not negate the periodic checkup on your tire’s tread. According to Turo, tires must maintain a “ 4/32” or greater tread depth”.

How to check for tread depth:

Purchase a tire tread depth gauge. My recommendation.

Insert the barrel into the midline tread groove.

Take a measurement of the tread in 5+ different spots on the groove.

Average the measurements to arrive at a relative tread depth of the tire.

Should the tread not meet the requirements, look to purchasing new tires & getting them mounted by a local shop.
